Resumes, Job Search Letters & Interview Skills

WE’RE HERE TO HELP

Attend a resume and cover letter consultation and have your resume or cover letter critiqued. Preparation is a key to a successful interview

A Skype, Yahoo Messenger or telephone consultation is a vital component of our service and this will take approximately 2-3 hours. During your consultation we will identify your career aims, job targets, skills, experience and achievements. We will probe your educational history, any work-related experience and outside interests. This enables us to check that you have not left out anything important from the initial information you have provided. The telephone consultation therefore gives us extra insight into your abilities and allows us to write a more imaginative CV, which should encourage an employer to take your application further.

Employers use telephone interviews as a way of identifying and recruiting candidates for employment. Phone interviews are often used to screen candidates in order to narrow the pool of applicants who will be invited for in-person interviews. They are also used as way to minimize the expenses involved in interviewing out-of-town candidates.

Questions to ask interviewers

Questions interviewers ask

Ask yourself these questions about your CV:

  • Does my CV differentiate me from others?
  • Am I still using the same CV I have used since college, just with added bullets?
  • Does my CV have the key words recruiters are looking for?
  • Does my CV list my responsibilities and key accomplishments throughout my career?
  • Is my CV too long? Is it too short for my background at this stage of my career?
  • Is my CV keeping me from getting more qualified interviews and a better job?
